Privacy Policy
This is a plain-language summary of how Qrewire handles data. Review and adapt it with your own legal counsel before launch.
The free QR generator
Static QR codes are generated entirely in your browser. The content you type (URLs, Wi-Fi passwords, contact details, custom fields) is never sent to our servers— it's encoded locally and downloaded by you. We don't track or store the codes you create for free.
Accounts
If you create an account we store your email, name, a securely hashed password, and your plan. We set a single essential cookie to keep you signed in. We do not use advertising or third-party tracking cookies.
Dynamic codes & scan analytics
When someone scans a dynamic code, the request passes through our redirect so we can send them to the current destination and record the scan. For each scan we store:
- An approximate location (country/city) derived from the network request
- Device type, operating system, and browser (from the User-Agent)
- A one-way hashed, truncated IP — we never store raw IP addresses
- The time of the scan and referrer, if any
This lets code owners see aggregate analytics. We don't build profiles of individual scanners and don't sell any of this data.
Payments
Paid subscriptions are handled by Stripe. We never see or store your full card details — only a Stripe customer reference and your plan status.
Your rights
You can edit your profile, change your password, and permanently delete your account (and all associated codes and analytics) from your settings at any time. To request a copy or deletion of your data, or to report a concern, contact support@qrewire.com.
Data retention & security
Passwords are stored using scrypt hashing; scan IPs are hashed with a per-code salt. Deleting a code or your account removes the associated data. We retain scan events to power your analytics until you delete the code.
